We have had the following request for help. Sounds like a heap of fun for a day. Anyone keen to help should contact direct on the phone number below.

********************************

Hi,

I am the race organiser/director for the NZ Tri Sprint Distance and Junior
Championships being held here in Wgtn at Scorching Bay on Sunday 13th March.

The sprint distance race is a non drafting race (unlike the Junior Elite
race) and I need to provide 4 draft busters to keep an eye on the riders
during the cycle leg. I already have Mark Renall and Iva.

I would need the motorcycle, rider and a pillion whom we can train on the
science (??) of draft busting. Basically just need a good eye for distance,
a good eye for a mobile situation (bikes are passing each other all the
time), and an assertive stance when busting. Also there to ensure they keep
left of the centreline. Balanced and steady at relatively slow speeds (up to
45 kmph) is necessary.

What happens is if drafting is noted (must be 5 metres behind and 2 metres
to the side and have 15 secs to complete a passing manoeuvre. The bike then
being passed must ensure they are not drafting the rider that passed them)
the rider gets a yellow card, they must stop (yet to decide if on the side
of the road there or at a stand down box at either end) for 2 minutes before
continuing on. Their number is marked with a felt pen to note they have been
stopped. If they are stopped again a red card is shown and they are
disqualified. Any abuse following a yellow card or at any time is a red
card.

The Junior Elite race starts at 8:00 AM on the Sunday and the Sprint race at
9:00. The road from Chocolate Café to Burnham Wharf is closed from 7:45 AM.
The race will be done by 11:00.

It would be nice if you are happy to volunteer to help me out and I can
offer you $40 petrol voucher for your time, fuel use and tyre wear (??)
including attending a briefing on the Saturday at Maranui Surf Club in Lyall
Bay (probably at 12:00). I would provide the fluro marshal bib.

Can a few of your members help me out ?

Please let me know ASAP either on email or phone: 0274 310 622.
FYI here is the link to the entry form which contains some more info.

Cheers

Sunday January 23rd 2005

TV ONE 3pm to 6pm

It's finally time for the return of the most watched Motorsport show Shell
Helix Motorsport hosted by Geoff Bryan and the best from around the country
and also from around the world again every Sunday afternoon this year. For
the next few weeks we will be highlighting some of the best action from
around New Zealand over the summer months.

3.00pm V8 Ute's Summer Shoot Out - Eastern Creek.

Just a little action to get the show started today and highlights from the
V8 Ute's summer shoot out held at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway.

3.25pm Motorcycling - Wanganui Street Race.

To the local scene now and the first of the big battle of the streets
meetings held on Boxing Day from Wanganui.

4.35pm Mike Pero Motorsport Series - Formula Ford and Bridgestone Porsche.
Round 3 Timaru.

Coverage from a rather wet Timaru Raceway as the Mike Pero Motorsport series
moved into the New Year and the first of the event coverage from this
meeting today. First up we look at the Formula Ford class as well as the
Bridgestone Porsche series. There is more coverage next week from Timaru
including the new Toyota Racing Series and the mighty NZV8 Touring cars.

5.15 pm Speedway - South Pacific Sprint Car Championship - Baypark.

The start of our Speedway coverage also kicks off today and we look at one
of the feature meetings to be held this summer and the South Pacific
Sprintcar championship at the top class Speedway venue at Baypark.

I am looking to partnering up with people to travel to the following meetings:

Paeroa
Pukekohe
Ruapuna - John Britten Memorial

I even have access to accomodation at Waihi Beach which is approx 20mins drive from Paeroa. It is a complete house and can sleep 8 people easily as well as has a garage to work on the bikes and a beach 20secs away that is great to swim in!

All I need to do is a deal with someone to get my bike (small RS125 and stuff) there and back..

Likewise I need to share for John Britten and Pukekohe,

If anyone is keen to discuss, please call me at home on 04 3888724.

If we work together we can boost Vic Club attendance at these mettings!

There may a be a bit of time while I get the hang of running these forums, don't be surprised if this change suddenly. I leave things as open as possible, but if things start getting abused then I might have to tidy things up.

The whole point is to help spread information related to vic club and bike racing in NZ.

To be able to post to the forums, you must be a registed user - anyone can read stuff posted here, so please bear in mind that this is a PUBLIC forum.

Cheers
